01 / THE HOST BOOKS YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND DELIVERY
An organisation invites you to speak to its audience. In the direct paid model, the host pays the agreed speaker fee; attendees receive the talk.

Find a relevant host
A host may approach you, or you can contact a suitable organiser.

Understand the audience and purpose
Ask who will attend, what would be useful and what the event needs.

Agree the speaking offer
Set the topic, format, fee, terms and whether any later offer may be mentioned.

Prepare and deliver
Build a useful talk within your skills, with clear examples and time for questions.

Complete payment and follow-up
Send the agreed invoice and materials. Payment timing follows your written terms.

Explore future work
Ask about an appropriate introduction or a new paid project, without assuming either.
A free talk follows a different money path.
There is no speaking fee for that appearance. Income happens only if a separate paid booking or service is later agreed. Free work does not guarantee that next step.
